It's been a while since we've published a playlist and what better occasion then the Solstice to blast a selection of songs from some of our favourite artists?
As usual, it is varied and full of twist and turns!
You can stream the full playlist here below, or directly on our YouTube Channel: whatever you choose, BLAST IT LOUD!
(Please note that, unless you have an Ad blocker software installed, YouTube might insert some advertisements here and there that you have to skip - this is not under our control).
Our 2023 Solstice Feast features:
01. PÅGÅ - "Enter" - from their album "The Evil Year" (Svart Records, 2020)
The title says it all, right? Perfect song to start our playlist, especially because it brings out that 70s bluesy side of PÅGÅ -one of their many, of course- and conveys an enticing mood that fits very well to begin our musical feast.
02. In Solitude - "Dance of the Adversary" - from their album "The World. The Flesh. The Devil" (Metal Blade Records, 2011)
A proper celebration wouldn't be complete without this fantastic combination of fine heavy metal and spiritually loaded poetry, as In Solitude's unique ensemble of musicians managed to craft so beautifully.
03. No Future - "What Are We Doing Here" from their album "Jämtländska Mord" (Bolvärk; 2011 / Döda Barn Musik & Forlag, 2013)
Drifting into this seemingly endless hypnotic chamber that No Future creates on this song, spiraling along with the riffs but shaken here and there by the almost tormented tone of the vocals - at times quiet, at times twistingly dramatic.
04. Reveal! - "Stalactites (When Cast Down the Mountain)" - from their album "Doppelherz" (Sepulchral Voice Records; 2021)
Possibly Reveal!'s most daring song, brilliantly composed, genuinely disquieting, lures us into a strange place at first and then bursts out in all its insane swirling. Simply...beyond.
05. Obnoxious Youth - "Dripping Organs" - from their EP "Mouths Sewn Shut" (Svart Records; 2020)
Can't you just feel your flesh melting already in summer's shitty heat? And if you don't, Obnoxious Youth will give you the proper fire to roast you up for good!
06. Maggot Heart - "Zero Hour Day" - from the split EP with OKKULTOKRATI (Rapid Eye Records; 2021)
Powerful track with everything that's needed to get you grooving and rocking, along with that touch of dark, sharp attitude which adds even more strength to the song.
07. Henrik Palm - "Nihilist" - from his album "Poverty Metal" (Svart Records; 2020)
About this song, Henke said that it is his "perverted version of Neu! and horror metal.” Well, sounds like something we definitely need on a Solstice playlist, right?
08. In Solitude - "Horses In The Ground" - from their album "Sister" (Metal Blade Records; 2013)
Racing spirited and completely carried away by the intense pace of this amazing song, which unleashes a storm and will leave no other choice than follow it all the way, running barefoot on the soundscape that it forms.
09. Begravningsentreprenörerna - "Det Är Bara I Mitt Huvud" from their album "Jämna Plågor" (Ektro Records / Full Contact Records, 2018)
Years pass, but we just can't stop going wild with this one! It's a hell of a rock'n'roll banger, for sure. And if you start sensing the sweet smell of sweat, well, that actually is not just in your head...
10. Endtime - "Cities On Fire With The Burning Flesh Of Men" - from their album "Impending Doom" (Heavy Psych Sounds; 2022)
Down we go into the depths of doom now, as the bleak, oppressive riffs coil around our flesh, and the caustic, piercing vocals tear it apart - obviously this couldn't be more appropriate on a Summer Solstice playlist.
11. Saturnalia Temple - "Bitter Taste" - from their album "Gravity" (Listenable Records; 2020)
Time to let the profound voice and the mesmerizing riffs on this song taking over all of our senses and carrying us through waves of sound that inspire inner explorations and stirs the mind.
12. PÅGÅ -"By Ends Great Glitter" - from their album "The Evil Year" (Svart Records, 2020)
We finish with the one song which can make you feel like you're experiencing all at once all the Solstices that ever happened on Earth. Or perhaps it's just making you remember them all...?
