PÅGÅ announced for Tower Transmissions XI in September 2025
Renowned festival of experimental music Tower Transmissions has confirmed PÅGÅ among the bands performing at the eleventh edition of the event, which will take place at Strasse E in Dresden from September 12th to September 13th, 2025.
PÅGÅ commented: "In 2016 we formed PÅGÅ as a means to explore a more intuitive way of making music, as well as working with new materials and methods. We have continued in that spirit through the years and have put together a variation of live sets that we have performed in Uppsala and Stockholm in Sweden, Pori and Helsinki in Finland as well as on a European tour with Lukas Häger and Whalesong, working exclusively with tape loops, audial premutations, assorted percussions, vocals and instrumentation. This methodology of sound and vision will be explored further and presented at Tower Transmissions 2025."

VERGING - an unofficial music video for BY ENDS GREAT GLITTER by PÅGÅ

The video is an experimental sequence of scenes which, as the title suggests, hints in a way at the feeling of approaching, of culmination, that might be sensed in the sort of ethereal, uncanny bliss which seems to permeate this song. Fragmented flashes and visions perhaps of an awakening, of a discovery, or maybe an encounter.
It has been conjured up by Vesperalia and of course PÅGÅ's music has been used with permission.
You can watch it here below, we hope you'll enjoy it and in case you haven't yet, grab yourself a copy of the unique album which is PÅGÅ's fantastic debut "The Evil Year", available at Svart Records.

“Out of a great lust to encounter the unknown and to explore the boundless in us this record/work came about, in the hands of The High Spirit Rebel. We wish this may serve as great entertainment, a bad enemy, an instrument and a match.
Enter! Step in!”
With these words in 2020, PÅGÅ, duo consisting of Pelle & Gottfrid Åhman, introduced their debut album "The Evil Year" (Svart Records, November 2020) to the outside world.
As we later became aware though, the seeds of this album had been planted quite a few years before: "In late 2016 me and Pelle spent a night playing each other all kinds of songs and sketches we individually had been working on during the year. In this soup of sounds there were a few pieces that seemed to carry some kind of thread or a mood maybe and it was something about the juxta-positioning of the pieces, with their different production qualities, that we found really intriguing. We could also see a story or at least a musical narrative playing out, and that night we more or less had a track order done. Then it took us about four years to get the sounds right. Many factors were at play in why it needed all this time. One of the biggest being living quite a distance from each other for a couple of years which made things a little trickier. We worked until it was done and it happened to take four years this time", explained Gottfrid in our interview back in March 2021.
Regardless of the time it took to actually being released, when it came out it certainly impressed many of us listeners, with its strange, enigmatic and haunting soundscapes, moving from psychedelic blues to moments of instrumental, dark ambient. Pelle and Gottfrid made it immediately clear when the album was released, that it has never been intended to be played live.

Playlist: Soon on stage - first half of 2024
For many bands we follow here at Unearthed Mirrors, the first live shows of 2024 are approaching - with WATAIN, Lukas Häger, Saturnalia Temple and UnoX hitting the stage already next month, followed by PÅGÅ in early March; Unpure and Xalpen will embark on the Europe Ablaze tour in April/May, also in May are a couple of festivals for Maggot Heart and the quite unique Eros At Arms festival for Concrete Winds.
Here is then a selection of music which will be haunting venues in these upcoming months: you might want to blast again the ones you know already, and we surely recommend getting acquainted with those you might not be very familiar with yet, because although covering very different styles, they all have some really excellent music to offer!

PÅGÅ, Perkwuno and Phallucipher live in Berlin on December 8th, 2023

On December 8th, 2023 in fact, Berlin's cultural association Artistania will host a truly interesting event that will see none other than Pelle and Gottfrid's PÅGÅ performing on the same evening as Perkwuno (as you might recall, this is the solo project of Uno Bruniusson) and electronic duo Phallucipher (XrysafeniaX - also of UnoX, and Alexandra Maciá).
This gathering will surely make for a fascinating evening of musical experimentations and strange sounds explorations, as all of these musicians are indeed known to place no boundaries on their creativity and are constantly widening their own and their listeners perspective.

Excerpts and images from PÅGÅ 's appearance at WATAIN 25th anniversary
Musical wanderers PÅGÅ (Pelle & Gottfrid Åhman) have recently appeared live at WATAIN's 25th anniversary shows with their experimental and darkly unique performance of sounds, vocals and noises from beyond.
Here and there on the web some fragments and moments from their show are beginning to emerge and we are gathering them here as a visual account of the event.
PÅGÅ have so far performed live only four times, in September 2023 in Pori and Helsinki, and on two consecutive nights (November 3rd-4th, 2023) in Uppsala, opening for WATAIN, alongside Attila Csihar's Void Ov Voices.
Let's begin with some motion and sound before the static images, here is a brief clip from the show captured and shared by PSL (Musical channel of Sveriges Television):

PÅGÅ - "Magnetic Agent" cassette - Image courtesy of Ektro Records |
Additionally to performing recently in Finland and announcing their upcoming appearance at WATAIN 25th anniversay shows, PÅGÅ, the experimental duo formed by Pelle & Gottfrid Åhman, have also released on cassette their 4-Track Session recorded and formerly broadcast in 2021 on HKCR.
The performance features the following tracks: "Magnetic Agent" - "An Unfinished World" - "In the Eyes of the Sepiolanaes" - "Beat to Descend"* (*this last track features a guest appearance by Uno Bruniusson).
Copies of this new release have been on sale at their recent shows in Finland, and now can also be ordered online on Finnish label Ektro Records' webshop.
The entire session has also been previously made avaialble digitally back in 2021 on SoundCloud and MixCloud.
All artwork and packaging has been curated by PÅGÅ and this peculiar release certainly is a must have for all of us appreciators of their mesmerizing, haunting and unique music!
[Updates]: The tape appears to be already sold out...which is not entirely surprising, considering how much we all love PÅGÅ' s music and the rarity of the release! Well done anyone who managed to get it and hopefully there will be more in the future somewhere on sale.

PÅGÅ, In Solitude, and the inner experience of music: Gottfrid Åhman interviewed on Iblis Manifestations podcast
Recently Iblis Manifestation podcast has invited Gottfrid Åhman and had an interesting conversation with him about his artistic activities after In Solitude: from his solo stuff, to PÅGÅ, his inspirations sources, musical experiences, memories from touring with The Devil's Blood, and much more.
They also touched upon In Solitude's disbanding back at the time, and Gottfrid explained: "It felt like we were on a mission, and we did it, and it's done; we did what had to be done, and we did all we could do. But I'm extremely proud of what we did, and so I don't want to distance myself from it like that, but somewhere I came to the conclusion that I'm not that musician who can stand and play the same songs every night for years." He also added that there was no single reason for the band to quit, but it was more like different reasons together, "five human beings going different directions".
