WATAIN announce additional live dates in China in November 2025

After announcing the live dates in Taipei and Bangkok, WATAIN have now added three additional live dates in mainland China in November 2025 as part of their Black Metal Magic Over Asia tour:

• November 12th, 2025 at NU Space in Chengdu (CN) Tickets

• November 14th, 2025 at Sirius Festival in Shanghai (CN) Tickets

•November 16th, 2025 at Sirius Festivla in Beijing (CN) Tickets

• November 17th, 2025 at B10 Live in Shenzhen (CN) Tickets

WATAIN announce 8th album and the end of the band in 2028

 Fiery WATAIN have issued on September 20th, 2025, an official statement to announce that in three years from now, on the year of their 30th anniversary, which will be 2028, they will release their 8th and final album - which will coincide with the conclusion of the band's activities.

Under the Sun fanzine featuring interviews with No Future and WATAIN

Issue no. 6 of Swedish zine Under The Sun can now be ordered and features an interview with Pelle and Gottfrid about No Future, as well as an interview with Erik of WATAIN.

Other bands featured on this issue are: The Hellacopters, Tyrann, Spiders, Morax, Lepra, Barbatos,  Venthiax, Felvum and Svartanatt; alongside other reviews and articles.

TOTAL METAL exhibition in Stockholm

To all our Swedish readers and anyone visiting Stockholm in the next months: a very interesting exhibition has opened in February at Kulturhuset Stadsteatern: TOTAL METAL, curated by music journalist Ika Johannesson (co-author of the 2011 book "Blod, Eld, Död: en svensk metalhistoria" - "Blood Fire Death: The Swedish Metal Story", English version released in 2018).

The exhibition, similarly to the aforementioned book, explores and traces back the origins and the history of the fierce Swedish metal music, which is very rich specifically in extreme metal, as anyone reading this website surely knows very well.

We are thrilled today to bring you an interview with one of the most diabolical drummers out there nowadays: none other than E.Forcas, whom we all know for hammering the skins in Degial and WATAIN but also in Unpure and in Livgone!
We have reached out to him with a few questions about all his current projects,  his drumming career, his gear and more:  he has offered us some very interesting insights that you can read here below.

Fiery WATAIN have brought their Black metal fury on stage at Sweden's renowned venue Dalhalla located in what once was a limestone quarry - a properly monumental location for their impressive stage set and most of all for their majestic and wild music live set!

WATAIN - "Tonight We Raise Our Cups & Toast In Angels Blood" Picture Disc edition

Sound Pollution Store (Sweden) has opened pre-orders for the Picture Disc edition of WATAIN's "Tonight We Raise Our Cups And Toast In Angels Blood - A Tribute To Bathory" live at Sweden Rock Festival in June 2010 (formerly released in 2015 by Sound Pollution on vinyl): this will be a limited edition of 666 copies, with inner sleeve and will be released on August 23rd, 2024.

On August 2nd, 2024 WATAIN have played at Wacken Open Air a special "Lawless Darkness" concert, performing all their songs from their acclaimed fourth studio album.

 A surely majestic concert which properly celebrates this impressive, monumental Black metal record.

Blood Fire Death: A Tribute To Quorthon And The Music Of Bathory - full show available

On August 3rd, 2024 Beyond the Gates festival hosted a special concert titled Blood Fire Death - A Tribute To Quorthon And The Music Of Bathory, where members of several bands, including WATAIN among others (members and ex members from Aura Noir, Bathory, Darvaza, Emperor, Enslaved, Gorgoroth, The True Mayhem, Primordial, Satyricon and Whoredom Rife) contributed in making a grandiose and spectacular celebration in memory of legendary Qorthon and his music.


A video of the full show has appeared on YouTube, which can be seen here below: a properly adorned stage, with a killer line-up of musicians, for a glorious tribute to certainly one of the greatest metal musicians ever!

Tribulation announced as opening act for WATAIN's show at Dalhalla

The opening act for WATAIN's special show at Dalhalla on August 31st, 2024 has been announced and it is none other than Tribulation!

WATAIN has commented: ""The bats have left the bell tower! Death rock marvel Tribulation joins us to Dalhalla for a night of glittering darkness. Don't miss out on this "once in a lifetime" experience! We are looking forward to setting the Northern Sky on fire with Dalhalla's unbeatable environment as framing."

WATAIN announce Latin and Central American dates in November 2024

WATAIN have just announced that they will bring their scorching Black metal madness to Latin and Central America in November 2024!

The dates are as follows:

WATAIN announce new live dates in September 2024

Additionally the the show in Tbilisi on September 28th previously mentioned, WATAIN have just announced earlier today that they will also play in Istanbul, Turkey on September 26th and in Nicosia, Cyprus on September 30th!

The band has commented: "It’s been far too long, but we can finally announce Watain’s return to Turkey! We are also eagerly looking forward to our first concerts ever in Georgia and Cyprus on the same weekend. Total Black Metal insanity in the ancient borderlands of Europe! What could possibly go wrong?"

...Sounds like a challenge that's up to their listeners in those cities to pick up!

WATAIN announced for Malmöfestivalen 2024

Malmöfestivalen has just announced the first names for this year's edition and WATAIN are among the bands who will perform at the festival this summer: they are going to ignite the fires of Black Metal on August 13th, 2024 on the main stage (Stora Scenen).

WATAIN announce show at Dalhalla on August 31st, 2024

WATAIN have announced earlier today that they are honoured to have been invited to play at Dalhalla on August 31st, 2024: this location, they have explained, is "one of Sweden's most renowned venues located in a former limestone quarry in Dalarna".

It sounds like a really inspiring location to be adorned with WATAIN's legendary stage props and to be lit with the fire of Black metal!


Tickets will be on sale this Sunday, April 14th, 2024, at noon (CEST) on nortic.se.
