For the love of tapes!

Today, October 14th, is the 2017 Cassette Store Day and so it feels the right time for a tape appreciation post. Why cassettes have been regaining so much popularity in recent times should be no mistery: surely vinyls are beautiful and sound great, CDs have a really convenient price/quality ratio, and digital files combine good quality with the advantage of being immediately available anywhere; but tapes...!, tapes are iconically linked to the underground, they are the underground music format, and despite having of course a rather lower sound quality than other formats, they keep that "cheap'n'nasty" feel that fits so well for several "less mainstream" genres.

All of Them Tapes

Below is a collection of images which shows some tape editions of albums by In Solitude and In Solitude related bands. Some of them have been sold out for a while now, others are still available somewhere, and others have been released just recently, so in case anyone is caught by a compulsive buying attack seeing those beauties, some links to purchase them, when available, have been added, too.
Long live the tape format!

In Solitude

"Sister", Metal Blade Records (2014)

"The World.The Flesh.The Devil",
Metal Blade Records (2014)

Metal Blade Records released the tape editions of "Sister" and of "The World. The Flesh The Devil" right before the beginning of In Solitude's tour with Beastmilk, in Autumn 2014. At the moment this is being written, some copies of both tapes might still be found on online webstores here and there: on Earache's webstore, on TPL Records.

"In Solitude", Season of Mist
(2017 - Cassette Store Day release)
Season of Mist just reissued In Solitude's debut album on tape for this year's Cassette Store Day and it can be bought on their Worldwide Store or U.S. and Canada Store.

No Future

(photo taken from No Future's official Facebook page)
No Future's first release, "Jämtländska Mord", was issued on cassette initially by Bolvärk in 2012 and later by Döda Barn Musik & Förlag (2013), they are difficult to be found nowadays and only occasionally appear on sale by some private sellers through Discogs or similar platforms, of course prices are fairly high.

Vorum

Vorum's "Current Mouth" has been recently released on tape by Morbid Bastard Records and copies can be found at the label's webstore: http://www.morbidbastardrecords.bigcartel.com/

Katalysator

Back when Invidious were still called Katalysator, they released two demo tapes: "Zombie Destruction" (self-released, 2005) and ""Mass Genocide Ritual"(self-released in 2006, then reissued by Zombie Ritual Tapes in 2009). Both are now impossible to be found!

For even more cassette fetishism, check out several photos and posts about these cassettes that have appeared on the web through the time, and some beautiful photos of In Solitude's self titled on tape in the comments to this Facebook post.
