Focus On: Lukas Häger

Our "Focus On" series to highlight the musicians and bands who will play live in the next months continues today with Lukas Häger, who will embark on his first solo tour from February 8th to February 17th, 2024.

Most of us have of course firstly known Lukas as Spine of Reveal! and as co-guitarist in No Future. Particularly, his riffs-from-the-crypt and those dagger-sharp solos, got many of us hooked to Reveal!'s lunacy - and still keep us hooked, by the way.

Around the year 2015, he started End All Parties: both a channel which used to air sessions of musical explorations and broadcasts of live bands (Saturnalia Temple among the first ones who appeared there), and a label which has released Reveal!'s singles and all Lukas' solo music (or at least, all of his music that has been released so far).

As years passed, through End All Parties some of Lukas' solo material began to be shared and from time to time, some ghastly, captivating pieces of solo guitar music would make their appearance on the web, like some little traces left here and there to follow a path which would slowly and unpredictably lead the listeners to know more and more of this bluesy/folk/ambient side of his music.

It wasn't until September 2022 that this music saw a release in physical format, when he published on cassette a recording of his live set, formerly aired on End All Parties one year before, in September 2021 (Lukas had previously released another solo tape under the name Assassinaxions, but it isn't part of his solo guitar material, rather a remarkable little gem of experimental/noise music).

Copies of the Live At End All Parties tape are still available on the label's webshop.  (Among the tracks performed in this live set, two of them - "Blood In The Black Cow's Milk" and "Glowing Pile Of Eggs" - would then later make it to his debut full-length.)

A few months later, in December 2022, Lukas informed that he had finished recording his first solo album, which was going to be mixed and finalized during the following months - and so in September 2023, his solo debut, "Folkmord I Ting" ("Genocide In Objects") was released and started spreading its guitar incantations across the world.

Nine brilliant compositions, able to carry the listeners in its unique dimension - made of strings and vibrations, among uncanny ambiences, gracious passages and deeply moving melodies.

Starting this February, Lukas will bring his solo electric guitar set in several venues across Europe, his upcoming live dates include, after his own tour with Gnever, Saturnalia Temple's "Paradigm Call" release party in Brusessels, and some selected concerts with PÅGÅ and Whalesong in March.

We can't recommend enough to try and take part in one of these concerts if you have the chance, because it will certainly be an occasion to lose yourself in the music in a very primal, intimate and profound way: more info and details about the next live dates can be found in the Partake section of the website.

Meanwhile, it's possible to have a digital foretaste of how Lukas' live sets might be, watching here below an excerpt from his concert in Stockholm in December 2022:
