Power trio Maggot Heart has just released their third album "Hunger" and it is now possible to listen to it entirely on their official Bandcamp page!
"[...]This time I tried to get to the core of Maggot Heart, also when it comes to songwriting", said Linnéa recently about the album on an interview on Rock Hard. "This is of course a never-ending project and will possibly accompany me on the next album, however I had the feeling that this album in particular connected with something more vulnerable that defines me as an artist, but also defines the band."
...And "Hunger" definitely makes a solid statement about where the band is now!, sounding strong, rich in dynamics, intimate, at times confronting, able to bring about moments of both reflection and assertion, always with a no-bullshit attitude - which fits perfectly their musical nuances of dark rock, post-punk and noise rock.
Power trio Maggot Heart are premiering today another track off their upcoming album "Hunger"!
This time they are offering us a glimpse into a different side of their music: the new song "Archer" in fact, is a bittersweet, almost melancholic song which features piano, trumpet and saxophone, building up to an intense ending momentum, in a smooth, rounded sound.
The latest single by power trio Maggot Heart just got the video treatment and today the band has released this new visual piece to accompany their song "This Shadow"!
The video has been directed by Finnish artist and director Tekla Valy who made use of a very fitting combination of light and darkness, exposure and color balance to surround the band - and the eerie dancer who haunts the video here and there - with moving shadows and little creepy figures, adding a touch of dark and ghastly atmosphere.
Images of Linnéa, Oliva and Uno playing close to a fire in a cave alternate to the uncanny silhouette of the dancer who projects her shadow across, matching the title of the song and the reflections narrated in the lyrics.
Maggot Heart's upcoming album "Hunger" will be out in less than two months and today, another new track has been unveiled: coming in strong with Linnéa's catchy riffing, "This Shadow" escalates in a heavy momentum which unleashes the power trio's intense energy, and combined with Maggot Heart's characteristic self-reflective, slower paced parts, create a really dynamic sound.
The band has also disclosed that a music video for the song is coming soon, so stay tuned for that!
"Hunger" will be out on September 29th and pre-orders are open at both Rapid Eye Records and Svart Records!
The band will be touring right after releasing the record, check out the upcoming live dates in the Partake section.

Berlin based booking and promotion company MILK ME has premiered today the third episode on their series which features none other than our favourite power trio Maggot Heart!
The episode includes an interview with Linnéa, Olivia and Uno as well as their full performance streamed at Roadburn Redux earlier this year, with the addition of two new songs taken from Maggot Heart's latest release, the split EP with OKKLUTOKRATI: "No Song" and "Zero Hour Day".
The episode was filmed before Maggot Heart's appearance at this past year's special online edition of Roadburn, so the band talked a bit about their previous show at the festival, their participation in the online edition, the pre-pandemic times, and how they managed to turn the pause from touring due to the restrictions into a productive time focusing on the new material; they also discussed what they have been missing the most and how they have experienced the lockdown times. Linnéa also talked about the main theme which her latest track "No Song" is about and just generally how the city life often inspires her songwriting; on a different note she also speaks about interviewing Motörhead members for her Death beat zine (some issues still available at Rapid Eye Records by the way).
The interview also touches upon their tour with Voivod and how the band is an inspiration to them; how Maggot Heart include elements both from hard rock, post punk and other genres as well which makes the band rather difficult to define on these terms.
Maggot Heart's killer live performance is also part of MILK ME episode and can be streamed below: of course, the LOUDER, the BETTER!, as they certainly spared no energy and delivered a set of highly intense and visceral rock music.
Setlist as follows:

Maggot Heart's new album "Mercy Machine" is out today on Rapid Eye Records and it can be streamed in its entirety on the official Bandcamp page!
Our favorite power trio has delivered a remarkable album, recorded as usual at Studio Cobra in Stockholm with Martin "Konie" Ehrencrona, and with the collaboration once again of Gottfrid Åhman, who co-wrote the songs "Justine" and "Senseless" and also guested on second guitar on the songs "Justine", "Sex Breath" an "High Rise".
From Rapid Eye Records' official page, Linnéa comments on the album release: ”It's July 10 and 'Mercy Machine' is set loose! This record took form after we finally landed at home in the end of 2019 after many intense and incredible tours. I knew this album was gonna be red, partially white, and I wanted it to take place in truth and in flesh. A rock n' roll manifestation! With teeth! The body as a machine, and in turn our bodies as parts of a bigger machinery, became the focal point. The eternal topics of sex and death and defiance. In good company of so many great albums before this one. 'Sex Breath' came first, 'Gutter Feeling' last. In another world/time, it seems now...
