Listen to The Other Sun's debut "Daimon, Devil, Dawn" in its entirety

"Daimon, Devil, Dawn" cover artwork by David S. Herrerías

The debut full-length of Swedish dark rockers The Other Sun, titled "Daimon, Devil, Dawn", is out today, July 23rd, 2024  and it can now be streamed in all its captivating entirety!

The album can be purchased digitally on Bandcamp and physical copies on vinyl and CD can be found on Invictus Productions and The Ajna Offensive.

Listening to this album, feels a bit like walking into a dimly lit, smokey bar with wooden furniture cracking and faces in the dark that you can't really see, but you know they are staring at you. A fortune teller awaits across the room, and by the time you're getting close to see what cards have been drawn to see your destiny, you wake up and it was just a dream...or was it?

The Other Sun premiere lyric video for the song "Black As Gold"

Swedish evokators of dark rock The Other Sun have premiered today on Deaf Forever a lyric video for the song "Black As Gold", taken from their upcoming album "Daimon, Devil, Dawn", out on on July 23rd, 2024 via Invictus Productions and The Ajna offensive.

"When you read 'dark', don't think of this as an angry, angsty darkness, but rather an exploration of the Inner Self infused with the psychedelic, a Western twang, the profound demeanor of deep-rooted occultism that conjures both the sunrise and the sunset and all that such implies when studied through the individual. Dreams start from darkness and turn into that invisible light which compels the Promethean spirit in Man", explains Invictus Productions in the video description.

Indeed, like travelling back into a shadowy dream in the 70s, the atmosphere is evocative and captivating, rich in passages of absorbing ambience, smoothly blended with psychedelic inspirations.

The Other Sun: debut album "Daimon, Devil, Dawn" out on July 23rd, 2024

The Ajna offensive and Invictus Productions have announced today that the debut album by Swedish dark rock band The Other Sun, titled "Daimon, Devil, Dawn" will be released on July 23rd, 2024!

As you might remember, back in 2019 The Other Sun released a truly intriguing cassette EP on Lapis Niger Production, "Horizon Between The Eyes" (see our archive post about it), at the time the band started as a collaboration between writer and musician Frederik Eytzinger (on guitar and vocals) and Tommie Eriksson (drums and guitar).

Now as of 2024, the line-up consists of Fredrik Eytzinger (lyrics, vocals, guitars, bass), Árni Bergur Zoëga (vocals, guitars, bass, drums, keyboards), and Tommie Eriksson (session solo guitars) and their debut album, once again with an impressive cover artwork by artist David S. Herrerías, will be out in Europe through Invictus Productions and in the U.S. through The Ajna Offensive.

Traces of Sulphur Along the Path: a playlist

"Music was the key to the universe, the maps and the science of both the inner and the outer world. Music channelled the divine and made it present in human society.Music has the ability to invoke and evoke strong experiences, influence the mind, the soul and the worldand is perhaps the most important activity of mankind, besides what needs to be done to merely stay alive."
- From Musical Alchemy Introduction.

Back in April 2018, when Secret Trees was about to release Eldhamn's first EP, and the first track had just been premiered("Bhairavi Eyes", included in the playlist), we created a playlist focused on Tommie Eriksson's main musical creations. While many people probably know him through Saturnalia Temple and Lapis Niger, his artistic creations all seem to have a more subtle, common thread that is noticeable to the attentive listener, who will also strongly sense the similar otherworldly aura that extends across all these projects.

Now, after the recent launch of the website Institute of Musical Alchemy, dedicated to the musical and magical work of Tommie Eriksson, it felt like the right time to bring this playlist back, with some updates with relevant releases that has been published since then, such as The Other Sun's first EP "Horizon Between the Eyes" (Lapis Niger Productions, 2019), and Saturnalia Temple's album "Gravity" (Listenable Records, 2020).

You can stream the playlist below, and we suggest doing that while exploring carefully the Institute of Musical Alchemy website: there you can find a very interesting Musical Alchemy Manifesto, as well as a fascinating article to delve deep into the topic, a proper Musical Alchemy Introduction.

Saturnalia Temple's third album in pre-production phase

Saturnalia Temple announced some months ago they were about to begin working on their third studio album during the summer, and a recent update has been shared by Lapis Niger Productions on its Instagram profile: a brief clip from Sitra Ahra Studio shows us the band experimenting with their instrumentation, offering us a glimpse of the ongoing pre-production phase. A short, but nonetheless evocative, taste of Saturnalia Temple's peculiarly otherworldly soundscape, tingling our curiosity even more...

Introducing The Other Sun and their debut EP "Horizon Between the Eyes", out on Lapis Niger Productions

The "Horizon Between the Eyes"  EP cover artwork, “Yak’ab Balam” inspired by Mayan stelae, by David Herrerías.

Interesting and exciting news for anyone who appreciates mesmerizing, psychedelic-infused rock music crafted with dedication and complete immersion: a new musical entity is in fact emerging from Sweden, founded by writer and musician Frederik Eytzinger (on guitar and vocals) along with none other than Tommie Eriksson (that most of us already know from Saturnalia Temple and his solo projects Lapis Niger and Eldhamn, here on drums and guitar).
Their debut EP "Horizon Between the Eyes" has been recorded in Sitra Ahra Studio by Tommie Eriksson and mastered by Greg Chandler at Priory Recording Studios and will be released on cassette, limited to 150 copies, in March 2019 via Lapis Niger Productions.
Meanwhile, it is already available to stream on their official Bandcamp page, and here below.

Furthermore, a video has been released for the song "Stalking the Stalker", taking the listener for a journey through an uncanny, nightly ambience, where a menacing yet compelling figure lurks in the dark...
