Three-part video interview with Erik Danielsson

While Watain was in Toronto for their show at The Opera House on February 25th, 2018, Erik Danielsson has been interviewed on Aggressive Tendencies, the digital video channel of Canadian magazine Exclaim!, and in this three-part video he talks about Watain and its roots in Black metal tradition, how its music, and the concepts it deals with, are perceived and approached by the audience from different perspectives and different depths; about the current misconceptions regarding the presence of political ideologies of any sort in Watain; how comparing "Rabid Death's Curse" and "Trident Wolf Eclipse" (respectively the first and the latest album of Watain's discography) shows that although created at different points of Watain's history they are both drawing from that same fascination with the extreme side of the search for advancement, and furthermore he elaborates a bit on the album title "Trident Wolf Eclipse" and its symbolism. The three videos can be watched below.

Part I : About Watain and Black metal tradition

Part II : About misconceptions and erroneous political interpretation of Watain

Rock Hard Sampler January 2018: WATAIN & Tribulation

The issue #368 (January 2018) of German music magazine Rock Hard comes with an interesting free promo CD that features three WATAIN tracks: "Nuclear Alchemy" and "Sacred Damnation" from the upcoming album "Trident Wolf Ecplise" and a rehearsal version of "Sleepless Evil"; and three Tribulation tracks: "The Lament" and "Lady Death" from their upcoming album "Down Below" and their cover of The Cure's song "One Hundred Years", originally appeared on their 2015 single "Waiting for the Death Blow".

Although most songs featured on this promo CD are probably by now already well known to followers of the bands, the rehearsal version of "Sleepless Evil" might surely hold some interest for all the appreciators of primal, raw black metal sound, as this version certainly adds even more viciousness to an already violently dark song.
The full Sampler CD can be heard below (click on track titles to jump to a specific song):

02. WATAIN - "Sacred Damnation"
