PÅGÅ announced for Tower Transmissions XI in September 2025
Renowned festival of experimental music Tower Transmissions has confirmed PÅGÅ among the bands performing at the eleventh edition of the event, which will take place at Strasse E in Dresden from September 12th to September 13th, 2025.
PÅGÅ commented: "In 2016 we formed PÅGÅ as a means to explore a more intuitive way of making music, as well as working with new materials and methods. We have continued in that spirit through the years and have put together a variation of live sets that we have performed in Uppsala and Stockholm in Sweden, Pori and Helsinki in Finland as well as on a European tour with Lukas Häger and Whalesong, working exclusively with tape loops, audial premutations, assorted percussions, vocals and instrumentation. This methodology of sound and vision will be explored further and presented at Tower Transmissions 2025."

Tommie Eriksson unveils plans for a Saturnalia Temple split, new speed/thrash project and more in this interview on Tempelores
![]() |
Saturnalia Temple as of 2024: Pelle, Tommie, Gottfrid Photo by Nox Ithil. |
He has mentioned that Saturnalia Temple will soon announce a split with a (still undisclosed) great band, which will be recorded with Pelle and Gottfrid Åhman (who weren't part of the recording of the album, written and recorded by Tommie alone, as he confirms in this interview).
Tommie has anyway reminded their listeners that this peculiar line up of Saturnalia Temple is such a special thing that they don't know how long it can continue and that they"take every gig and every recording as a thing in itself, and the future is only what feels right to the three of us." He also added that he "will keep the band going forever surely, and I hope the guys can join the ride for a very long time. But special things must be respected and cherished and one should never take anything for granted."

Saturnalia Temple: excerpts from the show at Celestial Darkness Festival

On March 2nd, 2024 Saturnalia Temple have appeared at Celestial Darkness Festival in London, to deliver their powerful psychedelic doom metal with the new live line-up which now includes Pelle & Gottfrid Åhman (of In Solitude, No Future, Invidious, PÅGÅ) who have joined Tommie Eriksson respectively on drums and on bass guitar.
Some clips from their live set have been kindly shared with us by Shayan (of Iblis Manifestations podcast - who also interviewed Gottfrid back in 2022).
You can watch these moments from the show here below - some parts are from songs of Saturnalia Temple's new album "Paradigm Call": "Revel in Dissidence", the title-track (on which we get to see some heavy hitting action!) and "Black Smoke".

Saturnalia Temple, Lukas Häger and UnoX live in Brussels - moments from the show
This past Saturday, Saturnalia Temple have played in Brussels the release show for their album "Paradigm Call", alongside Dread Sovereign, Lukas Häger, and UnoX.
It was also the debut of Pelle and Gottfrid Åhman as part of the new live line-up of Saturnalia Temple, so definitely a special occasion - since the change in the line-up was announced some months ago, there has certainly been a lot of anticipation to see this exceptional trio on stage!
So we are gathering here some first impressions which have appeared on the web so far (unfortunately, IG stories disappear after 24 hours, so the clips which were posted in that -ugh- format, can't be accessed anymore).
Hopefully there will be more, including some of Lukas Häger and UnoX, too; we will be updating this post if anything else appears in the next days.
Saturnalia Temple's new album "Paradigm Call" is out on March 1st, 2024 on Listenable Records - available at this link!

“Out of a great lust to encounter the unknown and to explore the boundless in us this record/work came about, in the hands of The High Spirit Rebel. We wish this may serve as great entertainment, a bad enemy, an instrument and a match.
Enter! Step in!”
With these words in 2020, PÅGÅ, duo consisting of Pelle & Gottfrid Åhman, introduced their debut album "The Evil Year" (Svart Records, November 2020) to the outside world.
As we later became aware though, the seeds of this album had been planted quite a few years before: "In late 2016 me and Pelle spent a night playing each other all kinds of songs and sketches we individually had been working on during the year. In this soup of sounds there were a few pieces that seemed to carry some kind of thread or a mood maybe and it was something about the juxta-positioning of the pieces, with their different production qualities, that we found really intriguing. We could also see a story or at least a musical narrative playing out, and that night we more or less had a track order done. Then it took us about four years to get the sounds right. Many factors were at play in why it needed all this time. One of the biggest being living quite a distance from each other for a couple of years which made things a little trickier. We worked until it was done and it happened to take four years this time", explained Gottfrid in our interview back in March 2021.
Regardless of the time it took to actually being released, when it came out it certainly impressed many of us listeners, with its strange, enigmatic and haunting soundscapes, moving from psychedelic blues to moments of instrumental, dark ambient. Pelle and Gottfrid made it immediately clear when the album was released, that it has never been intended to be played live.

Focus On: Saturnalia Temple
![]() |
Saturnalia Temple in 2023: Tommie Eriksson (center) is joined by Pelle Åhman (left) on drums and Gottfrid Åhman (right) on bass guitar. Photo by Nox Ithil. |
We will mainly concentrate on Saturnalia Temple's more recent times and its current manifestation, but not without mentioning their early releases, still dense with meaning and musical power.
"Saturnalia Temple unites both spirit, sound, vibration and will in a musical ritual of personal dedication", explained the official biography back at the time when the official website of the band was still active.
Of course, regardless of the line-up changes throughout the years, Saturnalia Temple has always been Tommie Eriksson's musical creature, and thus it reflects many of his own interests, studies, spiritual experiences as well as manifesting all of these through the evocative and spellbinding riffs which have become throughout the years, emblematic of the band's sound.
However, the band's music oozes a magnetic and powerful aura and instinctively appeals to appreciators of heavy and psychedelic doom metal, whether or not they are interested in esoteric and spiritual subjects.
Those who are instead, can now read more about this also in Tommie's own website, the Institute Of Musical Alchemy.
